Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) - Tribhuvan University


 Since 1996, Tribhuvan University (TU) has been implementing a three-year undergraduate program with annual examination system in the faculties of Education, Management and Humanities and Social Sciences and Science and Technology. Recently, the duration of the graduation program in those professors and institutes has been extended by one year to four years. Accordingly, the Faculty of Education (FOE) 20722 BS is going to introduce four education graduates (BEd) with two specialty subject areas (specialization major and specialty minor subject) instead of offering a single specialty area. The program will study one subject area as a specialization major and another specialization in minor areas Nepali Education, English Education, Mathematics Education, Science Education (Physics), Health and Physical Education, Population Education, History Education, Geography Education, Economics Education, and Politics. Science education. Students can study any of the courses between Science Education (Biological Science), Health Education, Physical Education, Vocational Education, Primary Education, Early Childhood Education Education, Non-Formal Education and Education Management as a specialization minor.


The four-year BEd is a professional as well as educational program designed to prepare competent teachers who can teach two subjects at the secondary level with an annual examination system.


About 50,000 private / community campuses in Nepal have been providing BEd programs for years, which are affiliated with Tribhuvan University.

Eligibility

Students who have completed 10 + 2 or equivalent examination are eligible to be admitted in the BEd program of Tribhuvan University by obtaining minimum 'D +' grade in all subjects of Grade 11 and 12.

Students with a Higher Secondary Education Examination Pass Certificate (HSEEPC, hereafter HSE only) or Tribhuvan University (PCL) Proficiency Certificate level or equivalent to HSE / Grade 12 pass are eligible for admission in BEd program. In addition, they have other requirements for enrollment in various major subject specialization areas which are as follows:


1.)Nepali education

  • HSE / Grade 12 pass or PCL with Nepali Major with at least 200 marks

2.)English education

  • PCL with HSE / Grade 12 pass or English or Linguistic Head
  • HSE / Grade 12 pass or PCL General with 0% marks in General English
  • Candidates with HSE / Grade 12 pass or PCL are required to achieve 500% marks in the entrance examination conducted by the concerned department of the campus.

3.)Mathematics education

  • PCL with HSE / Grade 12 pass or Maths Major contains at least 200 marks

4.)Science education

  • HSE / Grade 12 pass with at least 100 full marks in each subject or PCL in Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects

5.)Health and physical education

  • HSE / Grade 12 pass or PCL with health and physical education or
  • With HSE / Grade 12 pass or PCL Science or Population or Home Science or Nursing and any other subjects.
  • Must pass HSE / Grade 12 without health and physical education background or pass the physical fitness related entrance exam conducted by the concerned department of PCL campus.
  • Candidates without physical disability will be eligible to study health and physical education.

6.)Population education

  • PCL with HSE / Grade 12 pass or Population Studies or Geography or Economics or Health and Physical Education or Community Health or Science or Mathematics or Home Science or Civil Science or Social Service or Nursing or Commerce.

7.) From Geography Education, Economics Education, Political Science Education and History Education, HSE / Grade 12 pass or PCL or its equivalent.

Eligibility for selecting minor subject


Science Education Minor subject areas are open to all students, regardless of their area of ​​study in grades 11 and 12 or PCL, except for minor (biology). Only students who are studying physical science can choose Biology Minor. Students need to choose small subject areas that should be different from their major subject areas.

Curricular structure

Each student must pass 22 courses to earn Four-Year B.Ed.. These courses are divided into four major groups ˗ group 'A' with Communication Skills; group 'B' with Professional Cores Areas; group 'C' with Specialization Major Courses and group 'D' with Specialization Minor Courses. Group 'E' includes Teaching Practice/Practicum.

For example, a student majoring Nepali cannot select Nepali as minor. Specially, student majoring Science Education (Physical Science) must select biology as minor subject.
